11 Grand Rapids Breweries To Grab A Pint #DetroitFood
From the Motor City to Beer City USA
For more than a decade, Grand Rapids has proudly held the title of Beer City USA. In 2009, author and homebrewing pioneer Charlie Papazian created the Beer City USA poll, aiming to gauge “community spirit and support for beer businesses” during what he describes as America’s craft beer boom. This initiative laid the groundwork for celebrating cities with thriving beer cultures, and in 2012, Grand Rapids was put on the map. After 2013, Papazian retired the poll, stating that it had “served its purpose,” leaving Grand Rapids as the reigning Beer City USA champion.
In light of the city’s notoriety, the city has become a destination for beer lovers from all over the country, drawn to attractions, such as the Winter Beer Festival organized by the Michigan Brewers Guild, which draws in more than 100 breweries.
Here are 11 breweries offer distinct styles and experiences that are worth a weekend trip from the Motor City.
