15 Awesome Ann Arbor Beer Spots #DetroitFood

Just a short ride from Detroit on the D2A2 bus, Ann Arbor is home to some of Michigan’s top craft breweries and several key events that celebrate the state’s brewing culture. Among them is the annual Michigan Summer Beer Festival, the state’s oldest Brewers Guild event, held in Ypsilanti’s Riverside Park in historic Depot Town. Craft beer may feel like it’s on the decline, but many breweries are adapting to shifts in consumer behavior. That includes adding more nonalcoholic options, low-calorie seltzers, crisp pilsners, and sessionable lagers, and continuing to serve beer made by local brewers using ingredients grown in our very own Great Beer State. Ann Arbor is home to several longtime mainstays, along with a handful of newcomers to the craft. Here are the 15 top spots to check out on your next visit.

New to the map: The previous list included bars and breweries. This version features only craft beverage makers, and — because it’s been a few years since the last update — a lot has changed. Townies, Wolverine State Brewing Co., and Arbor Brewing Co.’s original brewpub have been removed due to temporary or permanent closures, while Hear.Say Brewing, Mothfire, and Bløm Mead + Cider are some of the new additions. The updated map also extends beyond the city limits into neighboring areas.
