‘Tis the season for holiday celebrations, where festive meals and seasonal cocktails bring everyone together. Whether you’re securing a spot at a favorite restaurant or adding a special touch to your home gatherings, metro Detroit has no shortage of options to help make your festivities shine.

Eater has assembled a guide to options for ordering in and where to make reservations this holiday season. It’s important to reserve sooner, rather than later as many restaurants and bakeries have strict deadlines for reserving items. Eater Detroit will be regularly updating the list as new options become available. Email detroit@eater.com if there’s something we’ve missed.

Where can I go for festive food and drink themed celebrations?

Neighbor x Folk Events at Michigan Central (2001 15th St.) — Corktown’s Folk has expanded into Michigan Central Station with a small market and gift shop, offering a selection of home decor, tableware, books, body care, and more this holiday season. On Dec. 14, Neighbor x Folk will host Sister Pie’s Lisa Ludwinski for a presentation, Q&A, and signing of her cookbook. Camrey Smith of Halcyon Patisserie is hosting a cooking class to make BĂ»che de NoĂ«l, or Yule Log cake. Tickets encouraged.

Happy Hollandaise at Grey Ghost (47 E. Watson St.) — The New American restaurant in Brush Park is bringing brunch back with a holiday twist on Sunday, Dec. 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Reservations are required.

Sippin’ Santa at The Skip (1234 The Belt) — The Skip’s famed drunk rat swaps his usual antics for a Santa beard as the Skip transforms into the Sippin’ Santa pop-up until Dec. 31. Think Santa riding a surf board, holiday cocktails served in collectible mugs, and palm trees shimmering with ornaments instead of snow. Reservations are available Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday, while weekends are walk-in only.

Buddy The Elf at Side Hustle Lounge (1226 Library Street) — Side Hustle Lounge, by Mootz Pizzeria, is taking on an Elf-inspired theme from Dec. 1 through 31. The space will be decked out in movie-themed decor and holiday-themed cocktails will be available. More details to be released on their social media.

Second Best (42 Watson St.) — The bar across the street from Grey Ghost is celebrating the holiday season with The Second Best Christmas Ever series throughout December. Festivities include advent calendar-inspired cocktail specials, Christmas Carol-aoke on Dec. 17, and 6th annual Ugly Sweater Party on Dec. 23.

Holiday Brunch at Book Tower Detroit (1265 Washington Blvd.) — Anthology Events, on the 13th floor of Detroit’s historic Book Tower, is hosting a festive holiday brunch with omelet and carving stations, pastries, a kid’s station featuring French toast and chicken fingers, and festive bloody marys and mimosas. There’s a room rate deal at Roost for those attending brunch and free holiday gift wrapping available at Post, located in the lobby.

Brunch with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Atheneum Suite Hotel (1000 Brush St.) — Share a magical morning with Santa and Mrs. Claus on Saturday, Dec. 21. There will be a holiday brunch buffet featuring endless mimosas, a hot cocoa bar, festive crafts for kids, and a photo opportunity with Santa himself. Seatings are at 10 a.m. and noon. Tickets required and include valet parking.

Where can I make reservations, order catering trays, and takeaway holiday spreads?

Alpino (1426 Bagley St.) — Corktown’s Alpine-inspired restaurant is embracing the season with glĂĽhwein, the spiced mulled wine beloved at Christmas markets in Germany and Austria. Be on the lookout on Alpino’s social media about when the restaurant launches preorders for stollen, the traditional German fruit bread, along with holiday to-go wine packs.

Apparatus Room (250 W Larned St.) — Enjoy Christmas Eve at the firehouse with Chef Rece Hogerheide’s favorite comfort classics and the bar team is curating festive cocktails for the occasion. Reservations recommended.

Baobab Fare (6568 Woodward Ave Suite 100) — The East African restaurant’s retail arm, Soko Market, put together the Nyumbani Gift box for the holiday season. Inside are two bags of Burundi coffee and two Shokola dark chocolate bars, one with caramelized spiced peanuts. It’s available for online purchase and in New Center.

Ladder 4 Wine Bar (3396 Vinewood St.) — The firehouse wine bar is selling a limited number of whole basque cheesecakes for pickup on Sunday, Dec. 22. It will be available on its online store in the coming week. They’re selling at $85 a piece but we have it on good authority that the 10-inch cake that typically yields 10 serving, realistically feeds 20 as a dessert course.

Norm’s Diner (8029 Agnes St.) — The diner is taking a winter break over the holidays but began accepting preorders on Nov. 30 for brunch kits and holiday cookie boxes, with pickup on Dec. 23. Brunch kits feature Norm’s classics like chorizo gravy and biscuits, garlic schmear, and crispy potatoes.

San Morello (1400 Woodward Ave) — The Italian restaurant in the Shinola Hotel will host holiday pop-ups on the patio every Saturday in December featuring local vendors and seasonal drinks of hot chocolate, coffee, and spiked cider. On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day the full Ă  la carte menu will be offered, along with special holiday dishes. Seasonal highlights include linguini with clams and a festive cannoli Yule log. On Dec. 24, breakfast is served from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and dinner from 5 to 10 p.m. On Christmas Day, breakfast runs from 7 to 11:30 a.m., with an all-day menu available from noon to 9 p.m. Reservations are recommended.
