A new lounge at Detroit Metro Airport pays homage to perhaps the most notable pinup of all time: Marilyn Monroe.

Marilyn’s Lounge, inside the 270-room Delta Hotels by Marriott, serves cocktails and food with menu items named for the Hollywood vixen, such as Marilyn’s favorite cocktail: a glass of Champagne with a splash of apple brandy and Grenadine with two cherries. Other drinks include Some Like It Hot, The Bomb, Desire, and the Perfect Kiss Martini. The drinks can be paired with the Norma Jeane Salad (Marilyn original). There’s also crab cakes ($17), calamari ($17), and Kobe burger ($23).

Of course, there’s Andy Warhol art prints of Monroe and entertainment inspired by the 1950s and ‘60s. ln keeping with the spirit, a Marilyn impersonator will grace the lounge’s weekly Friday happy hours, which kick off 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, October 8. Michigan native and perfectly coiffed blonde Julie Bannerton recently returned to the area after time in California and will appear weekly — likely with red lipstick and a 1950s era dress — at the hotel to take photos with guests.

Delta Hotels by Marriott at the Detroit Airport (31500 Wick Rd., Romulus) has breakfast and dinner daily, and a 24-hour shuttle to the airport.
