Marshall Mathers is bringing back s’ghetti and meatballs to a spot across from Comerica Park

Eminem is bringing back Mom’s Spaghetti.

The name for the planned restaurant, of course, comes from the unforgettable opening lines of Em’s “Lose Yourself” — “His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy/There’s vomit on his sweater already, mom’s spaghetti.”

According to a phone recording promoted in a commercial that showed on WXYZ-TV (Channel 7), the new spot’s home is at 2131 Woodward Ave., the same address for Union Assembly, the massive restaurant that opened this week in the District Detroit across from Comerica Park. The opening for Mom’s Spaghetti is set for 5 p.m. Wednesday, September 29.

Mom’s Spaghetti isn’t a new concept. Eminem aka Marshall Mathers aka Slim Shady first launched it as a pop-up at the Shelter in 2017. Last year, Em served the spaghetti to frontline workers at Henry Ford and DMC hospitals. Both the pop-ups and the new restaurant are a partnership with Union Joints, owner of Union Assembly.

Wondering what’s on the menu at Mom’s Spaghetti? Well, “spaghetti, meatballs, spaghetti with meatballs, or no meatballs, and the s’ghetti sandwich,” according to the phone line connected with the eatery. (Call 313-888-8388 for more deets on the spot.) Along with the spaghetti, the restaurant will include “The Trailer,” described as a store for Eminem uber-fans.

Despite much speculation, there’s no word on whether Slim Shady will deliver a new LP as well. According to an Eminem Reddit account, fans suggest that new music, possibly The Marshall Mathers LP III, will drop on Friday, October 1. It’s also unclear whether the Detroit-bred rapper will be involved with cooking at Mom’s Spaghetti.
