Purchasing meal kits and take-and-bake dinners is just one way to do help the local economy while also keeping yourself and your family entertained and fed during the “stay at home, stay safe” order in Michigan. Below are some of the options right now for DIY-dining and drinking in metro Detroit.

Detroit Vegan Soul (West): The West Village outpost of DVS is closed but the Grandmont Rosedale restaurant is still open with limited service. In addition to offering curbside pickup and no-contact delivery, DVS is selling seven-day meal packages containing soul platters and seitan pepper steak, almond tempeh, a sweet and sour tofu bowl, spaghetti with meatballs, a DVS burger with yam fries and coleslaw, and an okra stew bowl. The cost is discounted $75.
Bigalora Wood-Fired Cucina: In addition to offering its regular menu, Bigalora restaurants are selling pints of sauce and dough balls so customers can build-their-own pizzas at home. Select a location and place an order through the Toast Lab app for pickup only.
Pietrzyk Pierogi: This pierogi shop in Gratiot Central Market just rolled out Polish meal boxes in several sizes depending on how many people are eating in your household. The basic $30 box is stuffed with one dozen pierogi, a quart of soup, an onion, and 8 ounce containers of sour cream and sauerkraut. Others feature kielbasa, bread, and mustard. Purchase online for pickup or delivery within a 20-mile radius. The restaurant also offers shipping.
Castalia: Folks looking to brush up on their cocktail skills while cooped up indoors, should consider checking out Castalia. The pint-sized Cass Corridor cocktail bar is selling cocktail kits online for curbside pickup. The bar has combined all the essential ingredients for a cocktail (minus the booze) into ice cubes with serving instructions. There’s also jiggers, bar spoons, and ice cube trays for sale.
Folk: Folk is doing a little bit of everything from curbside groceries to a delivery menu, but the restaurant is also preparing meal kits and produce boxes. The weekly farm box comes with essentials like vegetables, yogurt, cheese, bacon, eggs, and grain, while the Sunday Supper box features a rotating weekly meal with wine and fresh bread. Both boxes are priced at $50 and can be purchased online.
Magnet and Takoi: The chefs behind Magnet and Takoi are preparing and selling prepared meals and meal kits for sale at a curbside market in Core City. Customers can place orders online for items like hummus, pita bread, and chicken dinners.
Beyond Juicery and Eatery: This metro Detroit juice bar chain offers no-contact delivery and curbside pickup for its “essentials kits” through a proprietary app. Select your location and choose from salad kits, charcuterie kits, smoothie kits, and more.
Zingerman’s Cornman Farms: Stock up your freezer with meals prepared by Zingerman’s Cornman Farms. The restaurant and events venue is selling frozen items like chicken spaetzle soup and bangers and mash, which can be ordered online for pickup and reheated at home at your pleasure.
Rocco’s Italian Deli: This Italian deli and market in Cass Corridor is selling take-and-bake meals for curbside pickup. Choose from options like ziti with mushroom marinara and herbed ricotta or the $50 meal package. Menu items rotate daily and are available for online ordering.
Ferndale Project: The Ferndale Project is doing a little bit of everything from beer and cider delivery to Detroit-style pizza. The brewery also offers frozen pasties in flavors like butter chicken and vegan apple.
