Ax-throwing bar swings into Partridge Creek
Growing metro Detroit ax-chucking venue and bar chain Detroit Axe is set to open at the Mall at Partridge Creek in Macomb County at the end of January. The newest location, dubbed Detroit Axe East, occupies a 3,700-square-foot space with 12 hatchet-throwing lanes, a restaurant serving items like deep dish pizza, and a full bar. The group is expected to open a third location in Corktown later this year.
Restaurant relocates from Eastern Market
Le Culture Cafe, which currently occupies the old Antietam space in Eastern Market, is moving into new digs near Greektown. The restaurant will takeover the short-lived Asaysia address at 1452 Brush St., the Detroit News reports. Owner Drew Matthews aims to close later this month and reopen by Valentine’s Day in the new space. Matthews also aims to open a restaurant called Culture Soul Detroit serving southern comfort food at 24737 W. Eight Mile in April.
West side cafe gets into the yarn business
Grandmont-Rosedale community coffee shop Town Hall Caffe has expanded, adding a yarn shop on the premises. The shop called Madeleine’s Knitting Nook features hand-dyed yarn from small companies, as well as knitting classes and clubs.
Juice bar expansion
Metro Detroit chain Beyond Juice + Eatery signed its biggest franchise deal to-date this month. The company plans to add more than 20 locations in the greater Cleveland, Ohio, area beginning in 2020, per a release.
