CORKTOWN — Detroit’s newest square pizza recruit Michigan & Trumbull opened on Wednesday, January 29. The restaurant features a rooftop patio and a dive bar aesthetic with a menu of Detroit-style pizza, fried calzones, and barbecue-flavored waffle fries. A liquor license is still in the works. Status: Certified open. 1439 W Elizabeth St.

WOODBRIDGE — There’s a new izakaya in Woodbridge. BASH Original Izakaya opened its doors on Putnam and Trumbull in early January with an extensive Japanese pub menu that includes sushi and sashimi. Status: Certified open. 5063 Trumbull Ave.

CASS CORRIDOR — Indian carryout and delivery restaurant Detroit Masala quietly opened its doors this winter in the former Cake Ambition space. The menu features options like meat samosas, tindaloo ghost pepper curry, and lamb kabobs. There’s also options like New York-style gyro plates and fried rice. Status: Certified open. 154 3rd St.

DOWNTOWN — Smoothie bowl slinger Rush Bowls is now open along the Columbia Street promenade near the Fox Theatre and Frita Batidos. Status: Certified open. 22 W Columbia St.

ROYAL OAK — Meijer’s new location at the Woodward Corners development debuted on Wednesday, January 29. The Woodward Corner Market store is sort of Meijer’s version of a bougie local chain stocked with local brands like Farm Field Table meats, a Great Lakes Coffee bar, and a sushi counter. Status: Certified open. Thirteen Mile Rd and Woodward Ave.

EASTERN MARKET — A table tennis club called Pong Detroit just set up shop inside Bert’s Warehouse. The spot features hourly table rentals and a menu with burgers, sandwiches, pizza, and more. Status: Certified open. 2739 Russell St.

DEARBORN — Taylor-based Middle Eastern restaurant Malek Al Kabob has officially expanded to a second outpost in Dearborn. Status: Soft open. 22065 Michigan Ave.

ALLEN PARK — Another Chick-fil-A recently opened in Allen Park. Status: Certified open. 3355 Fairline Dr.

DEARBORN — Indian restaurant chain Paradise Biryani Pointe opened a new outpost in Dearborn at the new Wagner Place development. The menu includes options like malai chicken kabobs, egg dum biryani, and gongura goat. Status: Certified open. 22001 Michigan Ave. Suite 130.

GARDEN CITY — The Taco Stand, a Downriver favorite based in Allen Park, debuted its newest outpost in metro Detroit on Friday, January 10. The Jalisco-style Mexican restaurant known for its campanchano tacos. This is the third location for the fast-growing restaurant group, which also runs a location in Taylor. DEARBORN — A new coffee bar and ice cream shop called Eleanor’s Cafe recently opened in West Dearborn offering items like smoothies and gelato. Status: Certified open. 22001 Michigan Ave. Suite 190.
