MOD Pizza, National Coney Island, and Common Grace Coffee just arrived

A new crop of restaurants has arrived at Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) bringing a whole lot of new dining options to the underserved North Terminal ahead of the hectic holiday travel season. The new restaurant and cafe recruits include local and national chains National Coney Island, Common Grace Coffee Co., MOD Pizza, Starbucks, and McDonald’s.

These openings started rolling out over the summer, with the latest one — a new location of McDonald’s — debuting on November 15. This collection of restaurants represents phase two of a four-phase $21 million dining renovation in the North Terminal. The airport terminal, which in the past has had fewer appealing options than the McNamara Terminal, welcomed several new spots in the spring including Air Margaritaville, Atwater Brewery, and Zingerman’s Coffee.

There are still a handful of new openings to look forward to. This winter, DTW expects to welcome Pei Wei, Brioche Dorée, Chick-Fil-A, and Anita’s Kitchen as part of the third phase. Suffice to say things are looking up for hungry Alaska Airlines and Spirit travelers.
