An Italian Seafood Restaurant Is Heading to Milwaukee Junction #DetroitFood
Prepare to twirl some pasta
A new restaurant specializing in Italian cuisine and seafood is settling into Milwaukee Junction. Oak and Reel, a restaurant from Michigan native chef Jared Gadbaw, is expected to land along East Grand Boulevard in 2020, according to the Detroit News.
Gadbaw attended hospitality school at Michigan State University and went on to study and work in New York City for more than a decade. The chef did stints at chef Michael White’s Marea and then lead the kitchen at sibling French restaurant Vaucluse, when it opened in 2015. In 2018, the chef returned to Detroit to open his own spot.
Oak and Reel will be located not far from forthcoming restaurant and bar duo Freya & Dragonfly and is expected to feature handmade pasta and a wood-fired oven — a seemingly must-have item for any new restaurant these days.
For now, Gadbaw is teasing his new solo project with dinners at Revolver on December 13 and December 14. The cost is $65 and includes dishes like Risotto di Mare with flat fish, calamari, and cured fish roe.
