Outdoor Belt Alley Cocktail Bar Will Serve Boozy Slushies Year Round Thanks to New Glass Wall #DetroitFood
Hot cocktails and bar food are in the works
One of this year’s most enjoyable additions to the drinking scene was The Skip. The outdoor-only spot run by the partners at Standby was a refreshing destination for those looking to take advantage of the warm weather with a well-crafted, but not too serious, cocktail in hand. Alas, The Skip was destined to be seasonal — a spring, summer, fall spot only that would disappear when Detroit inevitably became bitterly cold.
But now that we’re knee deep into fall, the owners have revealed something new to keep the bar slinging frozen drinks all year round. According to a release, The Skip will go on hiatus in the next few weeks so the owners can install a new glass enclosure.
Also in the works is a new lineup of hot cocktails, boozy slushies, and at long last some bar food. The watering hole has fixed up an old-fashioned food cart to literally roll out its snacks to guests. Fans can expect cocktails like pumpkin spiced Irish coffee and applejack cider when the bar reopens “around the New Year.” Stay tuned for the official closing dates.
The Skip is still slinging drinks with the help of heaters from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday and Sunday and from 3 p.m to 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
