From lattes and croissants, Indian streets snacks, to all-day brunch and lip-smacking ribs

Eastern Market is Detroit’s quintessential food hub, where each weekend, tens of thousands of metro Detroiters make their way to its iconic sheds for all manner of produce, prepared foods, meat processors, garden starters, and every May, Flower Day.

Much is in store for the century-plus outdoor market district in the coming months. A new coffee shop, La Ventana Cafe, set up shop on Gratiot, giving market-goers another option for caffeinated meet ups. Down the block, Bunny Bunny has reemerged from the brink of closure to offer counter service, a rotation of pop-up guest chefs, and an abbreviated menu of its Indian, Southern-inspired fusions. Sadly, a recent fire forced the district’s local legend Supino Pizzeria out of commission for the time being, though folks can take a short drive to New Center to enjoy its other location. Elsewhere, Stache International bid farewell in early 2023 to make way for the forthcoming Tocororo, which will bring tropical vibes to the district all year ‘round.

With the warmth of summer on the horizon, now’s the time to revisit the food and drink spots that define Eastern Market.
