Good Cookies owner Jeffrey Gisstennar started baking as a hobby and after persistence from his wife, opened his very first store in Detroit’s westside in the middle of a pandemic. The Good Cookies location not only offers tasty cookies, but also comfortable seating inside the cafe with great music and free Wi-Fi. Sister Pie
Lisa Ludwinski, founder of Sister Pie, opened her bakery on the corner of Kercheval Avenue and Parker Street in Detroit’s West Village in 2015. With her team of 12 faithful employees, Sister Pie’s menu offers nontraditional combinations of flavors and constantly changes to honor Michigan’s local agriculture. Its perfect version of a cowboy cookie called the Robert Redford, is made with old fashioned oats, brown sugar pecans, and chocolate chips. Treat You Batter opened the doors to its bakery on the Northwest side of Detroit in the middle of a pandemic to overwhelming demand.
