Plus, new plans for a food hall, bar at former Andiamo’s site in Dearborn

Miller’s Bar in Dearborn, one of the best places to grab a burger in metro Detroit, is up for sale.

The asking price for the 81-year-old bar at 23700 Michigan Avenue is more than $4 million, Ali T. Charara, listing agent with Century 21 Curran & Oberski tells Crain’s Detroit Business.

Current owners, brothers Dennis and Mark Miller, are looking to retire. Charara says they want to sell the bar, which their parents opened in 1941, to someone who will maintain the character of the old-school establishment.

“This legacy bar offers an outstanding opportunity to an experienced restaurateur seeking a location with decades of goodwill and an interesting history in the bar business,” the listing reads.

The sale includes the business, a liquor license, a 50- to 60-person banquet area, equipment, four apartments above the building plus an adjacent salon, according to the property listing on Loopnet.

New Plans for Shuttered Andiamo Site

And just up the street, the group of investors who bought Andiamo’s former site in Dearborn plans a 15,000-square-foot food hall with 10 stalls, a cigar bar and bar, and a co-working space for the property at 21400 Michigan, Crain’s reports.

One of the investors says three of the stalls are booked: a chicken restaurant, a smoothie shop, and an Asian fusion restaurant.

Andiamo Dearborn closed in February 2021 after 17 years in business. At the time of closing, owner Joe Vicari of Joe Vicari Restaurant Group cited the pandemic and its closing regulations as the reason for the restaurant going out of business.

A huge auction of items from the former high-end Italian steakhouse ran through Monday, October 4. According to the website of Madalyn Auctions and Equipment , which ran the auction, everything was up for grabs, from the silverware to the doors. “This place is seriously huge, two full kitchens, three bars & seating for hundreds!!” the site read.
