Frozen daiquiris, New England clam chowder, and banana splits are taking over the Corktown restaurant’s menu

The absence of a North American International Auto Show is causing some restaurants to branch out in creative ways this winter and make the best of a traditionally slow season. At Mudgie’s Deli, that means bringing summer vibes indoors for January with a Boat Days takeover.

Owner Greg Mudge tells Eater that the restaurant will be converting into a seafood restaurant starting Wednesday, January 15 complete with boat drinks, nautical decor, and an island soundtrack in conjunction with the upcoming Boat Show at TCF Center.

On the menu customers can expect dockside food like New England clam chowder and lobster bisque. Mudgie’s will also be offering sandwiches like the jerk-seasoned pulled pork sandwiches with bacon, cheddar cheese, and mango pineapple vinaigrette slaw or the vegan smoked jerk tempeh sandwich with vegan smoked gouda. To drink, expect options like pina coladas, frozen margaritas, and frozen daiquiris. There’s even a Calder Dairy banana split served in a boat for dessert.

The special menu runs through Sunday, January 26. Think of it as a test run for Mudgie’s annual patio tiki bar takeover.
