Christmas Bars Are Popping Up Across Metro Detroit This Fall With Heaps of Holiday Cheer #DetroitFood
Celebrate the season with spiked eggnog and Santa-themed cocktails at three pop-ups
It’s that time of year again: the season of holiday bar pop-ups. Bars around metro Detroit are once again decking the halls with twinkle lights and busting out their eggnog cocktail recipes as they prepare for a feverish series of winter celebrations brimming with Santa-shaped mugs. Here are some of the Christmas bar takeovers coming to the area very soon.
Miracle
Nationwide Christmas cocktail pop-up Miracle arrived in Detroit three years ago and has returned annually in a different location ever since. This season, the pop-up adopts the Oakland in Ferndale as its homebase with kitschy holiday decor and themed-drinks like the Christmapolitan (vodka, elderflower, dry vermouth, spiced cranberry sauce, rosemary, lime, and absinthe mist) and the Run Run Rudolph (prosecco, gin, mulled wine puree, lemon, and cane syrup). Creator Greg Boehm of Mace in New York uses the pop-up juggernaut to promote his line of Cocktail Kingdom barware. Opens on Monday, November 25 at 201 W Nine Mile Rd., Ferndale.
Jingle
Ale Mary’s Beer Hall in Royal Oak developed its very own version of the holiday bar takeover in 2018, transforming into Jingle. The seasonal cheer factory returns again in November with a How the Grinch Stole Christmas theme and an updated menu of cocktails. The restaurant will also be serving up vegan and non-vegan Grinch cookies. Opens Friday, November 29 at 316 S Main St., Royal Oak.
Sippin’ Santa
For a second year in a row, the Skip in downtown Detroit is serving up tropical-themed drinks and decor as part of the Miracle spinoff Sippin’ Santa pop-up. Expect tiki-style Christmas cocktails such as the Jingle Bowl shareable rum punch served in hot tub-style bowl filled with Santa and his reindeer. Opens on Monday, November 25 at 1234 Library St., Detroit.
