The Mean Weenie Hot Dog Truck Goes Brick-and-Mortar

The restaurant opened on Monday in Troy
The Mean Weenie, a food truck serving creative twists on traditional hot dogs, has officially gone brick-and-mortar. The restaurant opened on Monday morning along Livernois Avenue in Troy. Owner Chris Matthews and his wife Tracy Antenucci launched the business four seasons ago and have grown quickly, adding a smaller trailer last year. The company signed a lease on the former China Gourmet building in February and have spent the last three months transforming the space.
The 1,800-square foot restaurant offers takeout as well as approximately 12 seats indoors and additional picnic table seating outside. Diners can expect the truck's standard menu, which includes signature dogs served with toppings like wasabi ginger coleslaw and macaroni & cheese. The company has also expanded its offerings to include a selection of desserts, tater tots with toppings, and shakes made with Treat Dreams ice cream.
The Mean Weenie plans to continue operating its mobile business for catering, food truck rallies, and other events. The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
