These Essential Detroit Restaurants Are Still Open for Takeout and Delivery #DetroitFood
A fraction of Eater Detroit’s 38 essential restaurants are still serving customers despite the novel coronavirus pandemic
Restaurants throughout metro Detroit have suspended dine-in service in observance of Michigan’s statewide mandate to try to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus. That leaves most restaurants with only two options: adopt takeout and delivery or close. As the situation evolves, many restaurants are taking their chances with carryout service. Some are introducing take-and-bake menus and a few are even converting temporarily into neighborhood markets to help people avoid crowded markets. This is ultimately just a band-aid on the situation: Restaurants and their employees will need a lot more help to come back from this situation.
While there are tools for finding the most up-to-date information on what’s open right now, this guide provides updates on essential restaurants from the Eater 38 that are still operational. Remember to tip generously. And please — for the safety of staff, delivery workers, and other customers — respect social distancing measures by maintaining a distance of at least six feet from other people, avoiding large groups, washing your hands regularly, and staying home when sick.
Eater Detroit has done it’s best to confirm the status of these restaurants but the situation is changing daily, so make sure to check websites and social media for the latest information.
