It’s been a long time coming

After almost two years in the works, Clawson barbecue staple Woodpile BBQ Shack finally expands on Monday (December 30).

The restaurant’s second location will open its doors in Madison Heights, taking over a former VFW hall on E Eleven Mile Road.

According to co-owners Scott Moloney (Treat Dreams) and Zac Idzikowski, the new spot has 65 seats, and a full bar. The menu will feature the smoky classics — brisket, pulled pork, chicken, sandwiches, and sides, but will also be beefed up beyond the original. A few additions include loaded barbecue fries and nachos, barbecue sliders, and jumbo whole smoked wings — take a look at part of the menu below, which features most of the new additions.

Woodpile’s expansion has been a long time coming — open in Clawson for over four years, it first made plans to expand in 2017, with a location in the Baltimore Station development in New Center. The Madison Heights location was then announced in early 2018.

However, the New Center plan was canceled in mid-2019 due to delays on the part of Baltimore Station’s developers, leaving the Madison Heights location as the only expansion.

Woodpile BBQ Shack opens Monday, December 30 at 630 E 11 Mile Road — it’ll be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday to Wednesday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday to Saturday.
